Please see the documents below for our yearly overview and planning pathways.

Destination Bethlehem
Our children visited Nailsea Baptist Church to take part in an immersive retelling of the Christmas story. Each section was shared by different storytellers, making the experience truly engaging. The children also enjoyed creating crafts to take home and share with their families.
Whoops-A-Daisy Angel
This year, our Christmas performance was Whoops-A-Daisy Angel. The children were absolutely fantastic, and it was a joy to share this special experience with family and friends.
Visit to Christ Church
Barn Owl and Falcon classes visited Christ Church in Nailsea to learn how the church prepares for Christmas. We discovered the significance of the colour purple, helped decorate the tree and church, and explored the Nativity scene.
26th November 2025
In DT, we have been busy designing and making a ‘Moving Story book’. We have investigated levers, sliders and wheels and how these help make a page ‘move’. We explored the different ways and then designed our own book. We are excited to share these with Barn Owl class when we are finished!
In RE, we have been learning the Christmas story and why it matters to Christians. We made our own nativity scene showing parts of the story that surprised us, interested us or made us wonder. This week we will be looking at where we see the Christmas story in the lead up to Christmas.
In Jigsaw, we talked about how bullying is sometimes about difference. We looked at different scenarios and discussed whether they were bullying or not. We then thought about the word ‘inclusive’ and learnt that it means that everyone is included with all their similarities and differences accepted.
We had a great time at Bristol Aerospace last week, building on our learning of ‘Who is the greatest explorer?’ We learnt about astronauts in space in our workshop and learnt all about Concorde with our visit on to it. We enjoyed exploring the museum and spotting how planes have changed over time.
11th November 2025
This week, Falcon Class proudly took part in Anti-Bullying Week by celebrating what makes us all unique. We kicked things off with Odd Socks Day, coming to school in our brightest, most mismatched socks to show that being different is something to be proud of! The children enjoyed drawing their odd socks and sharing what makes them special.
We also explored the theme of the “Power of Good”, thinking about how kindness, empathy, and standing up for others can make a big difference. Through thoughtful discussions and creative activities, Falcon Class showed that even small acts of goodness can help build a happier, safer school community.
Falcon Class has been diving into multiplication and division this week! We’ve been exploring these concepts through arrays, equal and unequal groups, and grouping strategies to help us understand how numbers work together. The children have been using practical resources and visual representations to build strong foundations in their mathematical thinking. It’s been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they discover different ways to solve problems and explain their reasoning.
To mark Remembrance Day, children proudly wore their club uniforms—Scouts, Brownies, Cadets, and more—as a sign of respect and unity. Their presence and participation served as a touching tribute to those who have served and sacrificed, reminding us all of the importance of remembrance across generations.
22nd October 2025
In music, we have been learning about Ballads. We have listened to a range of ballads and thought about what they have that is the same. We then focussed on the ballad ‘Space Oddity’ by David Bowie and learnt the first verse. We used actions to help us remember it.
In English, we debated if we thought a monkey would make a good pet! We discussed our ideas in pairs and then reported back for our class debate. We listened carefully to other people’s ideas and some of us changed our minds once we heard some great points from others!
We have also recently written reports about giraffes, and we worked really hard to include the new success criteria we have learnt.
In jigsaw, we have talked about the word ‘responsibility’ and what it means. We have talked about examples in school and at home that show responsibility. We looked at the pictures on the power point and discussed who was responsible, why and what would happen if they hadn’t been. We then worked in pairs to sort the responsibility cards into most to least important and talked about why.
We were delighted to share our recent learning with our parents and carers at our class Showcase this week. Thank you to all those who came- we loved seeing you and talking about our learning.
29th September 2025
In PE, we focused on developing fundamental movement skills, including dodging, changing direction, and stopping. To practise these, we played Stuck in the Mud, which helped us apply these techniques in a fun and active way. Afterwards, we reflected on how these skills improved our performance and teamwork during the game.
In Maths, our learning centred around place value. Using manipulatives, we explored how to partition numbers, compare them using greater than, less than, and equal to symbols, and accurately position them on a number line. These hands-on activities helped deepen our understanding of number relationships.
In preparation for the Harvest Festival, we used our drawing skills to create detailed harvest-themed artwork. We observed the colours, shapes, and textures of vegetables closely, capturing their unique features in our drawings to celebrate the season.
12th September 2025
We have had a very busy start back to Falcon class. We really enjoyed our mark making week. We found out about Magpies and created some fabulous paintings of magpies. We also created some lovely ruler art- we loved seeing how different each picture was!
This week, we have had a great time learning about the story of Jonah and the whale in RE.
In maths, we have been practicing place value and linking it with money.
In English, we are learning our new text, ‘Monkey see, monkey do’. We had great fun thinking about the characters’ thoughts and feelings by ‘hot seating’ them.
This afternoon, we learnt how to play cornhole in our PE session with Mr Thomas. We really liked learning a new game and developing our skills!
