In the Spring term Emerald Class topic was ‘The Tudors’ and we focused on exploration. We took part in a Tudor drama workshop in which the children got the opportunity to play a variety of parts including Sir Walter Raleigh and Queen Elizabeth I. We went on a trip into Bristol and got to sail on a replica of John Cabot’s boat ‘The Matthew’.

In the Autumn term Emerald Class topic was ‘Crime and Punishment throughout the ages’. We researched how law and order has changed since 1066 and looked at the impact of Magna Carta, the creation of parliament and the emergence of a police force in the UK. We were visited by a police officer from Nailsea who explained how technology has evolved to help the police to solve crimes.
